Way Down North is a Northwest Montana multi-instrumentalist, high-energy, jam-folk duo. Formed by Cory Chopp on mandolin and guitar and Tina Bertram on banjo and keys, we have opened locally for touring bands such as Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, The Lil Smokies, Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs, and the Kitchen Dwellers, among others, and we enjoy connecting with audiences large and small through our originals and upbeat country/folk covers. For larger events we include Elliott Abbott on killer upright bass. Set Sail, our first album, emerged from the pandemic and reflects in part the loss of a dear family member. Our second album (coming soon!) explores such topics as tip jars, left lane drivers, the road to Polebridge, and pioneer weed farmers.
